Have you ever heard the term “shoulder season?”
It’s the travel industry term for the time leading up to and just after the most popular months to travel to a certain destination. There are so many benefits to planning a trip during this time, the most noticeable being the price difference. The travel industry is driven by supply and demand, and it is no surprise that most families can travel extensively during the summer or on typical school breaks. Planning a trip outside these typical windows can save a lot of money, but will also significantly reduce crowds and allow a more authentic experience in that particular location.
Many people plan their travels to Europe for the summer months, but in Europe, the summer can be unbearably hot and sometimes very crowded. Why not take that same trip during shoulder season?
I was able to do that recently and explore the beauty of Prague, Vienna, and Budapest in December, when the holiday markets were in full wintery glory. Europe has such a different feel during the shoulder season, and depending on what experience you are looking for, it can be just right for you!
